Genesis 2:12

Revised: October 2019

וזהב הארץ ההוא טוב שם הבדלח ואבן השהם׃

English: “The gold of this land is pure; bdellium and onyx stone are found there.” - The Jerusalem Bible

“The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.”– The Interlinear NIV Bible

Commentary:     It must be stated firstly that, Qabalistically speaking, the entire verse above (and the whole of the Garden of Eden for that matter) has nothing to do with any physical territory, past or present, that anyone could discover in this physical world. It is a metaphor for your and my physical vehicle, the human body and the levels of consciousness within it. The word highlighted red in the verse has undergone myriad, transliterated substitutes as the above ‘bdellium’ and ‘aromatic resin’ as well as 'carbuncle', 'pearl', lapis lazuli and ‘rare perfumes’, depending upon which Bible version you choose. If הבדלח, habedolah, is put into any online dictionary even more variations appear. If, however, one separates the initial Hebrew letter Heh (ה), a definite article ‘the’ from the rest of the word, בדלח, bedolah, the English word ‘crystal’ appears in translation. Cross check this by looking up the English ‘crystal’ in any good Hebrew/English dictionary. The correct and reasonable translation of habedolah would then be ‘the crystal’. And for a very good reason which will be explained further on. Aside, the Hebrew הבדלח, ha-be-do-lah sums to 49, the same number of lux, 'light', and alba, 'white' from the Latin Cabala Simplex.

If the definite article in front of the word is dropped, then בדלח, bedolah, sums to 44. This is also the number of דם, dam, ‘blood’. And blood has everything to do with the ‘crystal’ which is partly explained below and within the next verse, 2:13.

Now for “The gold of that land is good”. Tov, טוב, in the verse above means ‘good’, not ‘pure’ nor ‘precious’ nor anything else. In the Latin Vulgate it reads as aurum optimum.1 The ‘land’ is our body and the ‘gold’ of it, again Qabalistically speaking, is Tiphareth, the sixth and central sphere on the Tree of Life symbolic of the Christ Consciousness within us, albeit unbeknownst to most humankind. It is up to each of us to find Him within, develop that level of consciousness and to express It in everyday life. The ‘gold’ within us is merely ‘good’ because, being latent, it is not yet fully developed to its fullest expression of the ‘the best gold’ due to our separative egos. To adjust ourselves out of that doleful position comes from work, and duly referred to by all sages from wherever as ‘The Great Work’.

“...and the onyx stone”, correctly transliterated in most Bible versions we read is also the symbol, Qabalistically speaking, of that stone potential within us referred to in Revelation 2:17:

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.”

This ‘white stone’ or “the onyx stone” is the fully maturated pineal gland ('it is there, in the land', latent). As it slowly matures it transforms through various stages from a loose, gritty sand-like substance into a gum-like texture, and just before full development, becomes ‘crystallized’ as a result of the alchemical process. Then finally, if and when all requirements meet the spiritual, moral, emotional and physical conditions, ‘to him who overcomes’, the candidate is blessed from the Christ Consciousness in Tiphareth with Kundalini Shakti which fuses the amalgam into a crystallized white stone, as promised in Revelation 2:17.

This had been promised us from the beginning here in Genesis, and reiterated in Isaiah 28:16.

So this is what the Lord God says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: the one who believes will never be shaken.

The fundamentals lay in ZION (see in GLOSSARY). We must ‘overcome’ all the negative and erroneous habit patterns in the depths of our subconscious which infect our self-conscious minds and separated egos with distorted ideas and imagery that keep us from realizing exactly Who and What we are within and beyond this physical delusion.

1 “Good gold” in the Latin Vulgate is aurum optimum in Genesis 2:12. By Latin Cabala Simplex the phrase sums to 161, which equals corpus novus, 'new body'. The blessed recipient does indeed receive a new vehicle albeit it appears just as it did before purification. The change is cellular, imbued with a finer light substance. With 'new wine in new wine skins,' the individual then becomes a member of a new order, a heavenly being here on Earth. אדם עילאה, Heavenly Man, sums to 161.
