Genesis 5:9

       Genesis 5:9 “And Enosh lived ninety years and became the father of Kenan.”

       Thus far the words commonly translated as ‘man’ in ‘authorized’ versions of the Bible appear as four different word-forms in the Hebrew versions: אדם, ADM, Adam (generic humanity); איש, AISh (the intellectual man); אנוש, ANUSh, as the man Enosh above (the individual, corporeal man) and גבר, GVR, gever, (the warrior, macho type man, and the root-word for Geburah, the 5th Sphere). The various authorized translators and interpreters, not having been Literal Qabalists themselves, simply did not know what to make of this, or even what to do with these different spellings, merely agreed to transliterate them as ‘man’ and let it go at that. Authorized translators have had the same difficulty with the various Hebrew names of God.


       Qabalistically, however, the four different word-forms for ‘man’ in Hebrew open a labyrinth of ideas. The varied intricacies involve analyzing each letter in every word with the varied tools of the Literal Qabalist, and spelling out each word with Tarot Trumps for the picture symbols. To go there in this analysis would pile on tedium to an already protracted investigation.


       In a nutshell, however, many Literal Qabalists might agree that the word-form אנוש, enosh, describes the corporeal man with a personality in error. This inference of ‘man’ is one of the Sons of God unaware of his spiritual essence, like the entire personified descendancy of the Sons of Cain. With different vowel points enosh becomes anush, defined as ‘strong, severe, overwhelming.’ So why would Enosh be portrayed here as the son of Seth when Seth and his descendancy is indicative of the spiritual side, a Son of God, established as the Pillar of Mercy?


       The subtle and concealed message is clearly laid out in 1 Corinthians 15:50: “I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” Authorized translators misunderstood the implications behind this as well.


       We are born into this world inhabiting bodies of flesh and blood. If the one parent of a new-born has evolved sufficiently through his/her life to have become a truly realized Ben Elohim, the spiritual prowess of that parent will not be passed on to the progeny. Each of us must come into our own, on our own. The imperishable cannot be inherited like talents from the parents, as that of musicians, businessmen, scientists or celebrities and sports figures. Natural evolution and genetics have their part, to be sure. But to improve upon the natural human becoming ‘more than human’ calls for the conscious cooperation of each individual. Each of us has to work on that improvement. It is not a natural evolutionary process, because the one key element behind this improvement is desire for ‘the return’. This is what authorized translators and interpreters consistently misunderstand entirely.


       We must remember that these word-names are not actual persons, but personified aspects of consciousness. When the message in verse 5.6 recorded that ‘Seth lived to 105 when he fathered Enosh’, the meaning behind this is within 105 and Enosh (357). But ‘Enosh’ first appeared in Genesis 4:26 with: “And to Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.” Some gematria around 105 reveals מסה, massah, ‘trial, test, temptation; trouble, despair’. This is the general state of mind within all ‘individual, corporeal men’ when we begin to seek THAT WHICH IS WITHIN. The test of aspiration is perseverance through trouble and despair, and overcoming adversity. עלה, yawlah, ‘to go up, ascend; to come up; to depart, withdraw, retreat; to rise, spring up, grow’. These are attributes and qualities we must inherently express if we are to improve upon the base nature given us. Nature takes us only so far; we build upon that.


       The personified Enosh is you and I if we intrinsically harbor the ‘desire to return’. The Sons of Cain and the Sons of Seth are equally Sons of God. Sons of Cain do not recognize this, or if they do, they suppress the voice of Conscience to carry on with further endeavors in the material world. Sons of Seth (metaphorically speaking) choose to surrender to that Voice of Conscience and consciously seek to cooperate with the course of evolution.


       The number within אנוש, Enosh, is 357. The first thing to notice is its Theosophical Reduction to 15, which once again harks back to יה, yah, and the second sphere, Chokmah, carrying the root of Seth. The essence of the Creator is in each of us regardless. We may be sinners or saints, but the essence is the same. In that sense we are all Enosh. However, to become Beni Elohim, Sons of God, we must desire it and choose to live the life personified as the Descendancy of Seth in some spiritual discipline or other, East or West.


       How do we become a Son of God from a mere Enosh? The Plenitude spelling of Enosh (in English) is: ALP – NUN – VV VV – ShIN, which offers a profound hint. This sums to 601, the number of שכל מיאר, Sakel Mair, 'the Luminous Intelligence.' Sakel Mair is the name of the 14th Path on the Tree of Life attributed to the Tarot Trump Empress, Venus and Hebrew letter Daleth. This is the path of Imagination, both Universal and personal. And as the Creator, in His Image, manifested a physical universe and all therein, so do we ‘Enoshes’ imagine perfection of the physical vehicle, and all therein. The major caveat, however, is the re-channeling of the reproductive force, kundalini (see Sublimation from the Glossary), and the major caveat behind that is the DESIRE to want it. The 7th Sphere on the Tree is the sphere of Venus and the Desire Nature. This is the fullest, ‘plenitude’ meaning behind the name-number of Enosh.


       The temurah of אנוש, enosh, are letters ת ט פ ב, which sum to 491. Very pointedly 491 is the sum of the sentence, אני נפש, ani nephesh, ‘I am the soul.’ Enosh was first mentioned in Genesis 4:26 where it was written of him: “At that time men began to call upon the Name of the Lord.” Thus Enosh, as a branch of Seth’s root, was to have begun the line of true worship of a Creator dwelling within mankind, because it was desired. It is in the root of Enosh that the soul surfaces to be recognized and heard. This is opposite the lineage of Cain where, in Genesis 4:18, the name of Methushael suggested inquiries concerned with ‘being, life and death’ which began a rude form of priest craft worshiping some god or gods out there somewhere for guidance and solace.


       Enosh ‘lived’ 90 years before establishing the branch of Kenan. There is much gematria around number 90. For one, it is again established that Seth’s root constructs the Pillar of Mercy in that יכין, Jakin, also known as the Pillar of Establishment, sums to 90. Opposite Jakin is Boaz, the Pillar of Strength. The true form of worship beseeches דומם, domom, the ‘still, silence,’ within through meditation. Hebrew letter צ, tzaddi, at 90, is the letter-symbol for meditation, the act of fishing in the ‘Great Waters,’ מים, mim, which also sums to 90.


       There is so much more behind all this, but it would only serve to overwhelm. Work it! And the Joy of discovery is yours!
